What is ISO 28007-1:2015?
ISO 28007:2015 Maritime Security Standard was published in 2015 and replaces ISO/PAS 28007:2012, which was introduced due to the rapid growth in maritime security companies and the implications of using Privately Contracted Armed Security Personnel (PCASP) — including legal issues, safety concerns for seafarers, and varying national regulations.

ISO 28007 provides sector-specific guidelines and additional requirements that Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs) can implement alongside ISO 28000 supply chain security management to demonstrate that they deliver appropriate PCASP services onboard ships. Compliance with ISO 28007, demonstrated through ISO 28000 certification, strengthens assurance and credibility.

Today’s global supply chains are increasingly complex and vulnerable, particularly at sea. ISO 28007 helps organizations mitigate maritime security risks, reduce reputational damage, and control operational costs. Since seaborne trade security underpins much of international trade—especially for emerging economies exporting materials—ISO 28007 certification offers competitive advantage and trust.

The combined implementation of ISO 28000 (Supply Chain Security Management) and ISO 28007 (Maritime Security) provides organizations, shipping companies, and regulatory agencies with assurance that the highest level of performance and compliance is maintained in maritime operations.
